Founder, CEO, Occupational Therapist and Surf therapist
Emma is an Occupational Therapist, Level 1 Surf Instructor and Disability Support worker. Emma is passionate about promoting independence, the quality of life for people with a disability and a more inclusive society. As a surfer herself, Emma understands the incredible healing benefits of the ocean and the positive impact of surfing on the mental, emotional, sensory and physical aspects of an individual.
Emma has worked in the Disability sector for the past 12 years. She graduated from the University of Sydney in 2011 as an Occupational Therapist with the Dean’s Scholar Award and since then has worked in early intervention as a Paediatric OT, in rehabilitation with stroke patients and for the last 4 years in the Northern Rivers as an OT with children and adults with Autism Spectrum Disorder.
During the last 6 years Emma has also volunteered for disability surfing events, as an adaptive Ski/Snowboard instructor for people with a disability in Canada and at an orphanage in Mexico.
Emma is certified in the following:
- CPR and Advanced Resuscitation
- Ocean Rescue
- Makaton Sign Language
- Positive Behaviour Support Level
- Safe manual handling practices
Emma is currently studying continuing OT education in Sensory Integration via correspondence through Chan University of Southern California (USC).
When Emma isn’t providing surf therapy you can find her surfing, adventuring in her van, being in nature, and spending time with friends and family.
